I think you misunderstood my post...Hi Shadowlands,

I think you misunderstood my post. My fault.

I did not say that the group of people were from AA - one of them had an AA book, but this does not mean they were from AA. I agree that alcohol addiction affects everyone.

The point I was making is that all these people (about a dozen or so) had in common is that they were obviously poor, sleeping rough and were rather loud. Some of the other patients were obviously judgemental in the way they looked down on them and moved aside. I confessed that I found them a little intimidating at first, as a group, in an environment where perhaps you wouldn't expect to meet them.

Then I contrasted my feelings, and that of others, to those of Christ when He met similar people.

I did not mean to be patronising. Just pointing out how much more we still have to learn from Christ.

God bless.Victor S E Moubarakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04280638667651857296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2100862372880209397.post-32752137288346321742009-10-10T01:13:12.883-07:002009-10-10T01:13:12.883-07:00Alcoholics Anonymous does not organize group check...Alcoholics Anonymous does not organize group check ups at hospitals. Whoever this group of people represented,it would not have been the A.A fellowship, not to say some of them didn't go to A.A individually. The only requirement for membership being a desire to stop drinking. The members of the fellowship come from all spectrums of society, rich, affluent, famous, poor.
Alcohol is no respecter of status.Becoming powerless over booze could happen to anyone.I don't think this post is judgemental, but perhaps a little patronizing and ill informed.
I know of two Roman Catholic Bishops in A.A,many priests, doctor's,pilots and an extremely intelligent Nun to boot! All very well dressed people, unless they are in disguise of course.maybe we are all in disguise,in a way?mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06962374096401238994noreply@blogger.com
