Someone on TV said the other day that Disciples make Disciples. What he meant is that all Christians are tasked to evangelise. He explained that we can't all be preachers, pastors, knock from door-to-door, or hand out leaflets in the streets; but we show we are Christians by the way we live.
Let's admit it, we are not all good examples of Christianity by the way we live are we? I get irritable by stupidity in real life or by various experts on TV teaching the silly obvious.
But we can be Disciples, I thought, by what we write on our Blogs and social media outlets. Technology has given us a new, free, opportunity to express our Faith in a gentle encouraging way which could prompt someone to want to discover more about God and Christ in their lives. We never know who reads what we write. There are many people out there who have never learnt about God and Jesus. Can you imagine if your words were the first step for them on their path to Heaven?
Let's consider this: Jesus started with twelve followers. He had no Internet. How many "followers" have we got? Can you imagine what we can achieve with His help?
Let's us pray first ... and then start writing.

I must agree with this line:
ReplyDeleteI get irritable by stupidity in real life or by various experts on TV teaching the silly obvious.....amen
A few of us donot make good 'evngelists'. THANKS MY FRIEND
I often think I am a bad example of a Christian, Jack.
DeleteGod bless you and your family my friend. Praying for y'all.
Excellent post here, Victor. Yes, for those of us who are Christ-followers, our blogs are a wonderful ministry (and as you said, FREE!!!).
ReplyDeleteThat's right, Barbara; we have a duty to spread the Good News.
DeleteGod bless always.
Amen!! I love this Post Victor!! Something we all should definitely think about before we write a post. I know that there are several people who read my blog without ever leaving a comment...and this is great, but I need to always make sure that the words I write will touch lives in a positive way.
ReplyDeleteI regularly check the statistics, Shug; and there are far more visitors to our Blogs than the number of comments suggest. What an opportunity for us to tell the world about God.
DeleteGod bless you and yours.
I agree with you. I think we have to be careful what we post, what we say, everything. We are charged to do so.
ReplyDeleteYou are not an example of a bad Christian.
Thank you Sandie; I find I often cannot tolerate obstinacy in those who do not want to believe; or consider that they might be wrong.
DeleteGod bless, my friend.
Amen, Victor, amen! We may be the only Bible some people read. God bless!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the exact same thing!! :)
DeleteThank you Martha and K. God bless you both.
DeleteI like this post of yours so very much, Victor! Especially the passage "we can't all be preachers, ... knock from door-to-door, ..." speaks to me. I often felt as if I should do some of those things but considered myself utterly incompetent. By pointing out that "we show we are Christians by the way we live" you confirmed my inclination to mention my habit of not working in the garden, for example, on Sundays, or to abstain from eating meet on Fridays during Lent. These practices are practically absent from public discourse in my country.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting me here Ladka. Much appreciated.
DeleteYes, we can show others we are Christians by the way we behave in life, in business, and generally in our behaviour. And every so often, by what we write on social media.
God bless you.
It's always good to give a testimony, although the internet isn't exactly an area of the reproach of the Christ which I find difficult.
ReplyDeleteYou would be surprised at the level of ignorance out there about Christ and the Bible. Our presence on the Internet could be a much needed first step for many to learn about Him.
DeleteGod bless you David.
Good one, Victor!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, early this morning the thought popped into my head -- "What's the difference between an Apostle and a disciple?" (Google AI to the rescue!) Heretofore, I'd always mixed them up.
And now, here you are with a more in-depth explanation. Thank you!
As followers of Jesus we are all disciples in our own way. Our task is to support one another and to help spread the Good News about Jesus as the Son of God. Sadly, these days people are more inclined to "follow" people on social media and count their popularity by the number of thumbs up or "likes" they get.
DeleteGod bless you, Mevely.
I pray for my commenters/followers and let it be known I am a believer and go to church. I’ve had people not want to read my blog because of it, but I just pray for them more.
ReplyDeleteIf people do not want to read your Blog it is their problem, not yours, Mimi.
DeleteGod bless you.
An better use of the internet than pictures of what we are eating
ReplyDeleteThanx Ruby. God bless.
DeleteGood post, Victor and so true. We will be known by our fruit.
ReplyDeleteAmen Debby. Thank you so much.
DeleteGod bless.
