Messages

Isn’t it annoying when you’re waiting for an important letter and the postman never comes. Or he delivers a lot of bills and adverts but not the letter you want.

I accept that sometimes he has no letters for me. When that is the case, why can’t he ring the door bell and tell me he has no letters for me?

After all, when I check my computer it tells me there are no new messages on the server. So why can’t the postman?

And why doesn’t God say to the world “I have no new messages for you. The message is the same as it ever was. I love you so much that I sacrificed my only Son, Jesus, for you.” (John 3:16).

The devil on the other hand, well … he’s always got new messages for us. New temptations. New ways to lead us astray. New ways to rebel against God.

Or is it perhaps that God is telling us daily His Good News of our salvation, by His Grace, through Jesus – and we’re just not listening.

Now here’s a thought!

  1. Oh that ugly devil is unrelenting with his temptations.

I'm not sure if God is *always* talking to us, but I'm sure that I'm not always listening...
Thank you for the message, Victor!

    Have a wonderful day!

  2. Hi Hand-Maid,

Every sunrise, every flower that opens, every butterfly that flaps its wings, these and many more are signs that God speaks to us. He is there in all Creations. Perhaps we've grown accustomed and take all these things for granted, forgetting that He created them and us with love.

The devil, on the other hand, is successful with his temptations because he plays on our weaknesses.

    God bless you and yours.

    1. This is so true - He is always lovingly there, as you say, in all Creations. So, I need to listen with my eyes more.

  3. This is interesting, Victor. It's true that the Devil always seems to find novel ways to distract us from our true focus, doesn't he? And they all seem to draw upon our own vanities. I think our virtues grow when we forget ourselves and focus on that one message. God manifests His love in so many beautiful ways - it's easier to lose oneself in love than to fight against it.

    God bless, Victor:)

    1. Yes, sadly you are right. The devil finds our weaknesses and uses them to tempt us away from God. Our focus is so easily distracted.

      God bless you Vicky.

  4. I agree that we often don't listen, Victor. As you say, God's love is written all over creation so maybe we are a bit blind too?

    God bless.

    1. Perhaps we're too busy focussing on the things here below; rather than in Heaven above.

      God bless you Michael.
