I e-mailed a priest friend of mine, Father Francis Maple, who lives a great distance from me, and told him about my hospital experience.
He replied straightaway and asked if someone in my family had asked for a priest to attend hospital and give me the Sacrament of Annointing the Sick.
No one had. I suppose they were in shock and too concerned about my health.
Father Francis replied that this is very important and a priest should be called at all such emergencies.
I write this here in case anyone needs reminding.
I'm getting slowly better. Thanx again for your prayers. I hope to start visiting your Blogs again soon.
God bless.
Vic M

Hi Victor! I have been praying for you, and was so glad to see you at the blog today. I sure hope that you are continuing to do well, and healing is on the way.
ReplyDeleteI love Anointing of the Sick. Such a beautiful sacrament, and so uniting with our Lord. I bet you could still request it as you heal?
So happy to hear from you, my friend. Keep up the good work!
Ceil
Thank you so much Ceil for your continued prayers and good wishes. I really appreciate your kindness to me. I am a little more mobile now and have managed to get up the stairs. I have asked our priest to visit me at home next week for the Annointing of the Sick.
DeleteGod bless you Ceil and your family always. Thank you my friend.
Dear Vic M :)
ReplyDeleteYou're such an optimist and very kind when you say that no one had called for The Anointing of the Sick and then you go on to say that you suppose they were in shock and too concerned about your health to think about "IT".
Long story short, I could go on and on telling you true stories of how many people have simply lost faith in our Church but if our Catholic Spirit, Soul and Guardian Angels can simply start from when Our Lord and Savior who died for all our sins about 2000 plus years ago and consider HIM as our new Adam and HIS Mother as our new Eve, things might get better.
Longer story short, why bite off more than we humans can chew spiritually speaking in worrying about whether the earth is really only 6 thousand years in GOD (Good Old Dad) Eyes.
I better close by saying that I believe that if we hang on to GOD's LOVE, we're all going to make "IT" in GOD's Good Old "TIME" if we just keep "IT" to "ONE" Day at a Time. Right?
God Bless all brothers and sisters in Christ
Thank you Victor 2. You're right in that our focus should be always on God.
DeleteGod bless you.
Victor too, "I" mean Victor 2.
DeleteI like "IT" :)
Great reminder about the anointing of the sick, Victor. I hear so many stories at the hospital about how patients improved or came out of ICU after receiving it.
ReplyDeleteGoodness...No worries about you visiting my blog! I am just happy to see you coming along. I'm afraid to ask..But, is Aunt Gertrude part of your home health care team? LOL
Prayers and blessings always +
Hi Caroline. It's great to hear from you. I'll make a point of visiting you soon. I'm progressing slowly right now. As it happens, I had one or two stories about Aunt Gertrude already written and ready for publication before all this happened. Perhaps I'll publish them soon. This event of mine may well give me ideas about her role in my recuperation !!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and yours Caroline. Thanx so much for your much needed prayers.
Thanx Colleen. I hope and pray you and yours are doing well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I'm very glad to learn that you are steadily recovering from your ordeal. I have a list of people for whom I pray every day, and you have been on it for some time. You probably have quite a band of spiritual supporters, which is a very encouraging thought.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping in to my blog with your kind message.
God bless,
Dorothy B
Thank you so much Dorothy for your much needed prayers. Progress is slow but my sense of hmour, (and many prayers) keep me going.
