  1. Me! I'm Italian in my family, though I'm pretty much an American. I know of Claudio Villa and Mario Lanza, but I never heard of Domenico Modugno. Torna A Surriento is one of my favorite Neapolitan songs. Thank you.

    1. WHAT? Never heard of Domenico Modugno? Best Italian singer from the 50's won Eurovision Song contest with Ciao Ciao Bambina (or was it Volare?). Look him up on You Tube. You're really missing out on a great singer.

Replay the video above again and watch the great guitar playing. See his fingers on that guitar.

Mamma mia, Manny ... Modugno is really the best.

      God bless.

    2. LOL, he doesn't ring a bell. I'll have to check out my mother's records to see if he's in there. From that clip, he really has a beautiful voice. I'm sure my mother has heard of him. I'll ask. Thanks.

  2. Very nice Victor (and no, I am not Italian!). Mario Lanza was a favourite of my Dad. By the by, Domenico won the Eurovision in 1958. His song VOLARE was rritten by Franco Migliacci and Domenico Modugno, it was released as a single on 1 February 1958. Winning the eighth Sanremo Music Festival, the song was chosen as the Italian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958, where it won third place out of ten songs in total.
    Hugs and God bless Friend,

  4. Perhaps that missing ancestor of mine was Italian, even though they claim he was Irish, because I find this to be quite lovely!
    Blessings,
    Aimee
