Christ's wobbly table

If I may quote Martin Luther King: If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures.

Many people go through life enduring their job from day to day and treat it as a means to earn a living – and no more. And as time goes by, so does the pride they have in their work, and inevitably their standard of performance deteriorates.

Whatever job we have to do in life, whether it is an influential position of power or a carpenter like Christ, it is our duty, surely, to give it all the attention and skill that we possess. Can you imagine Jesus making a table with a wobbly leg?

No!

Then why should we? Whatever task we have been given to do – let’s make sure it is not wobbly.

  1. Victor, I have never thought about this. In fact, I have spent very little time even imagining Christ as a carpenter. Thank you for giving me this to reflect - and act - on!

    God Bless you.

  2. Victor, I take great pride in my eldest son being a carpenter--and seeing the perfection of his work! I miss my days of working--especially the relationships I had with my clients. You are absolutely correct---"Do it as unto the Lord."!
    Blessings!

    1. Thank you Lulu for your kindness. I'm grateful for your support.

I don't miss my days of working as a clown. It was awful getting to work. The car used to fall to pieces; first the door, then the steering wheel would come off, then the horn would go all by itself. My wife used to come out with a red nose and bang a drum so hard I fell over my big feet.

Doing this every day was somewhat tiresome.

      God bless.

  3. You clown. *lol*
VERY good lesson and I completely agree. When I first started working in a business office filing papers for the Higher Up's, I tried to always have a good attitude. I ended up retiring as an Accountant. When we do it as unto the Lord, good things happen.
Hope your day was blessed. ~:)

    1. Great to see you visiting me again Sparky. Thanx.

When I was young I wanted to be an accountant; but I sat on my abacus and it broke. My teacher said I had no perspective on life. I did not know whether the cows in the field outside school were very small or far away.

      God bless.

  4. Jesus didn't make a table with a wobbly leg, but He made a chairs without any back rests. If you lean back to far into sin you fall into hell. ;)

  6. Loved this post Victor! It reminded me of the parable of the talents (Matt 25). It just so happens that I read that passage this eve...
Hope things are well with you --
    Blessings,
    Aimee

    1. Thank you Aimee. Yes, God gave us all different talents; but are we using them wisely?

      God bless you and yours.
