Pietà is a Glorious Christian Italian Work of Art.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless
It depicts that moment when a mother holds her dead Son in her arms and ... forgives.
DeleteGod bless.
I had the great fortune of seeing this beautiful statue in person. I remember being quite moved. It is hard to express all the emotions that this one statue can inspire (including being in awe of Michelangelo for doing that with just stone).
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that I learned (and probably would have missed because of my reflecting) was that the two bodies are very much out of proportion. I really didn't notice it until someone told me.
God bless you.
I'm not sure what you mean out of proportion. Is Christ's body too small compared to His mother's?
ReplyDeleteIt must have been awesome to see this statue in real life. It's so expressive.
God bless you Michael.
Exactly. You can kind of make this out in your image, but it is easier in real life. Imagine a man larger than his mother laying across her lap - he would take up much more space than Jesus does in this statue. (In fact, if you look closely, Mary almost looks larger than Jesus in this piece) The fact that it is hard to even notice is a testament to Michelangelo's genius.
DeleteYes, I see it now. Thanx Michael.
DeleteGod bless you always.
