The Law of Invisibility

By now many of our readers will have put up the Christmas tree with beautiful bright lights. But did you know ... ... ... that whenever your back is turned all the lights on the tree go out. If you're not looking then the lights just go out. Even if you trick the tree and turn your back and look in a mirror ... it won't work. The lights will remain on because the tree, or the lights to be precise, know that you are watching.

If you turn your back and have someone else looking at the tree, it won't work either. The lights will remain on.

They only go off, or out, if no one is watching.

This is known as the Law of Invisibility as discovered by Professor Heinz Sight some years ago. He found out that if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to see it, then it will remain upright.

He also taught that the little light in the fridge does NOT go out when you shut the fridge door. This is a reversal of the Christmas tree syndrome. With the tree you expect the lights to remain ON - and they don't when you turn your back. With the fridge you expect the lights to go OFF - and they remain on.

To prove this, Prof Heinz Sight entered the fridge and shut the door. The experiment did not work because he was IN the fridge and therefore able to see the light; so it went OFF as he expected.

He also nearly died of hypothermia.

So there you have it. Enjoy your Christmas lights but don't expect them to be on when no one is watching.

  3. I once had a fridge that the light stayed on and our milk went off so we had to take the light out. It solved our problem,

    1. Thanx Bill. You've proved my point. The light stays ON when the fridge door is shut and you can't see inside.

God bless you. And thanx again.

  4. Heinz Sight is one of the most clever names you've concocted, Victor. And I love the cartoons!

    1. Thanx Martha. Heinz Sight was a Professor at our local University. He also taught graffiti there. His assistant was an optician named Ben Ocula. Together they discovered that the speed of light is faster depending on the speed the car is going when the headlights are on.

      God bless, Martha.

  5. Now, how did you know I was thinking of tricking my tree with a hand mirror?
I'm impressed you know so many esteemed individuals, Victor.

    1. It's true, Mevely, that whenever no one is watching, certain phenomenons act contrary to what we think. Lights go out on Christmas trees, or trees don't fall in forests, even objects move when you're not looking. Prof Heinz Sight proved this whilst looking backwards.

      God bless always, Mevely.

    1. Good point, Happyone. But what if a tree falls in the forest and you are not there?

      God bless.
