Missed

Then He led them out of the city as far as Bethany, where He raised His hands and blessed them. As He was blessing them, He departed from them and was taken up into Heaven. Luke 24:50.

After saying this, He was taken up to Heaven as they watched Him, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. They still had their eyes fixed on the sky as He went away, when two men dressed in white suddenly stood beside them and said, “Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into Heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw Him go to Heaven.” Acts 1:9.

A few days after the Resurrection Jesus was raised to Heaven in full sight of His disciples.

Can you imagine how they must have felt?

They’d been with Him for three years or so. Saw Him preach and heal the sick. Witnessed His arrest, death and Resurrection. And now … He was gone.

They must have missed Him very badly as they walked back to their homes. Confusion, fear and doubts must have crossed their minds several times.

He is gone … and He is missed.

Missing somebody is a sign that their presence had an influence on your life, your well-being and your happiness.

Their absence now has created a void in your life. An emptiness, and a longing to be with them once again.

We’ve all missed someone at one time or another in our lives. It is usually someone who has been kind to us.

Are we ever missed when we are no longer there? Have we done something nice to someone who will remember us and miss our presence in their lives?

  1. Oh, I hope so! Profound questions, my friend.

Yes, there are several folks I miss; who I wish I'd told them what they meant. I need to do so, starting now.
Victor, thank you for making a great difference in my life.

  2. ...the path of some through life is made of sand and signs of their presence quickly disappear, while other walk through wet concrete.

  4. Dearest Victor,
Yes, being missed is humbling and we all ought to strive for leaving a mark, a good memory that is!
Just finished reading your book before our late lunch. Laughed out loud a lot outside on our deck here at the cabin near Cherokee Lake in TN.
    Hugs,

    1. So glad you liked my book, Mariette. Thank you for buying it. Which book is that? I might read it myself some day! You see, when I write, I do not have time to read at the same time. I have yet to read a number of my books.

Let us spread happiness everywhere we go.

      God bless.

  9. You make a difference. You pour out kindness and humor as you try to be salt and light in the world as Jesus told us to.

As to whether i make a difference, you would have to ask others in my life about that.

  10. There are more than several people I miss very, very much and think about very often...Often I look up to the Heavenlies missing them and telling them. Yes, they were very kind to me.

I hope I will be missed, my daughters tell me especially when they marry and move out that they think of things I had said or done.

I agree with the above comment, you are very kind too Victor, you have been an encouragement. So please, you be encouraged too. : )

  11. I think what we miss is a situation, or a time of happiness. Often my husband will say that it would be nice if we returned to a certain country that we have previously lived in. I tell him that it is memories that he is reflecting on, and it may not be the same returning to that place. Where Jesus is concerned we can be anywhere in the world and His presence will be with us when we put our full trust in Him.
