Good Friday

In our church, on Palm Sunday, (last Sunday), everyone is given a poster like the one above to put prominently on their front window so it can be seen from the street.

LET US PRAY

  1. I remember as a boy..growing up..
Good Friday was a special day....
    Three o'clock in the afternoon,
    the church service started..and
    lasted for three hours..!
    Stations of the cross..adoration
    of the cross..mass..sermon..and
prayer of course..! The church was
always full..it was a solemn occasion!
    Very much so..!
And when we left church, our only thoughts
were 'roll on Sunday'..HeHe! Easter eggs..! :).

Jesus died for us..and..as one mark of
respect we abstained from eating meat!
Fish was the order of the day...! As
long as we had chips with it..! :).

So it's a solemn day to~day..l for one
will settle down at two~thirty, and watch
the 1961 film 'King of Kings' with Jeffrey
    Hunter..on BBC2..! Runs for 2hrs 48min...
I love all those old Passion made films..

  5. Dearest Victor,
Such a poster for the front window would ONLY work in the Old World as we are way too far from the street and people don't walk here, they drive by. Except for some joggers maybe.
The Tantum Ergo we usually do every Friday just before noon but not today.
Wishing you a meaningful Good Friday!
Pieter and I will be reading part of the 7 last words of Jesus...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  10. That's a lovely voice and I am glad the English translation was there. My high school Latin wouldn't have covered that.

  11. Somewhere we have a cross made of the same material as yard signs that you put on metal stakes. It's white, plain on one side and saying "He is Risen" on the other. It's supposed to be put plain side showing through Lent, and the other side showing through Ascension. We couldn't find ours this year, i will have to search and make sure to have it next year.
