And here's to you, Mrs Robinson

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know

Old Mrs Robinson felt a little faint in church today and passed out for a minute or so. She was helped to the sacristy where she sat down surrounded by concerned parishioners.

“I’ll get her a glass of water” said one.

“No … give her brandy!” said Tom.

“Perhaps a warm cup of tea with plenty of sugar” suggested someone else.

“I think she should have a brandy” repeated Tom.

“Maybe we should call for an ambulance” interrupted another parishioner.

“A brandy will sort her out” insisted Tom.

“Perhaps she should be lying down for a bit of a rest.” someone suggested.

“I have some smelling salts” said another.

“Brandy is better” said Tom.

“Will you all shut up and listen to Tom” said Mrs Robinson in exasperation.

The world is full of people crying out in need of something or other. And there’s always plenty of philosophers, scientists, economists, and experts on all sort of things expounding their theories and advising everyone on what should be done.

What they don’t realize is that what the world really needs is a bit more love.

“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)

    1. The Mrs Robinson in Simon & Garfunkle's song of the same name, perhaps?

  6. Tom had it right. At her age, Mrs. Robinson knew what she needed, and brandy was it.

    1. Indeed ... who needs experts when the answer is obvious.

  9. So eager to let their voices be heard, few take the time to actually listen.

    1. Exactly, Mevely. Always experts ready to announce their opinions.

  10. Thank you for this reminder. Everyone seems to be full of advice which usually falls by the wayside. We need to show more love to each other and keep our worthless advice to ourselves. Thank you, Victor. Have a blest day.

    1. It seems there are more opinions than there are problems to solve. The world needs loving action, Nells.

      God bless you.

  11. Loved reading this story again, Victor. Yes, more love is certainly what the world needs today (and maybe, some brandy).
    Blessings!

    1. It is so sad, Martha, what the world has become. Too much talking, too much noise, and no one is listening. (Lyrics for a song? Where's my harmonica?)

      God bless, my friend.

  12. Brandy all around!

Perhaps a good cigar as well.

  13. Don't keep the woman from her brady, eh? Yes, we need love, kindness, compassion, respect, and all of their kin to take over the whole world.

  15. Dearest Victor,
Wow, that was a direct hit by Mrs. Robinson!
So very true, so many people 'verbally' know it all but never get into any action!
Meant to read your book yesterday while waiting for our car being serviced. Managed about 15 pages and then got sidetracked by a good old Bonanza movie in the garage's waiting room. It did my heart good as it contained so many moral lessons taught to our youth back then. WHY can't they not continue that route?!
Now only some rare writers like you, that spread some common sense. Stories can be told in different ways but it has to REACH the viewer/reader and touch their heart and stay there as a seed.
Did give the other two after Mass today to our recently consecrated living virgin. On Immaculate Conception day, the Bishop came for doing this. Quite impressive as we both had never heard nor seen any such ceremony. She prostrated herself in front of the altar and received a white veil and a ring from the bishop She's still young and will continue to serve others and above all; GOD. A rare gem in present times. I told her that she no doubt will know someone that can use those books and that they were a gift...
    Big hugs,
    Mariette

    1. You are so kind, Mariette. Thank you. Thank you.

I write my Christian books in the hope that someone somewhere may get to experience God's love; just as I have.

This last one, Man And God, will hopefully encourage someone to get to learn more about God and Jesus.

Thank you for giving my books to others and for spreading the word out there. God will surely reward you for it.

May God bless you and your family always.
