Mary did you know

  Luke 1:26 onwards

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you." But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus."

    1. I admit the same, Mevely. At first I was not so sure; but this song makes you think how much did Mary really know. Would God ask her to become the mother of Christ without telling her of the suffering and pain of the Crucifixion?

Remember what Simeon said to Mary, "And a sword will pierce your own soul too." (Luke 2:22-40)

And if she knew all that, what courage and faith to say "Yes" to the Angel announcing God's message.

Could she have said "No ... not me Lord"? But then, would God send the Angel to someone He knew would say "No"?

      Points to ponder.

      God bless, Mevely.

A hymn which raises many questions. See my response to Mevely above.
