I read an article the other day about pets, and I'd like your views. The writer said that we confuse and even shock our pets if we suddenly act out of character. They are used to a norm and a sudden change of behaviour confuses them.
The article said if you undress in front of your cat or dog he's likely to wonder what is going on. He's never seen you with no clothes on, has he? This gives the pet quite a shock because they discover things they've never seen before. The pet's whole view of you has suddenly changed.
The article mentioned someone showering and the cat walked in the bathroom. He soon ran away up the curtain at what he'd seen.
Apparently, most pets are affected by sudden changes in circumstances. Goldfish for instance, or birds in a cage like a parrot, are very confused when you switch the TV On or Off, or turn the room lights On or Off and also sudden noises like music playing on the radio.
My thoughts wondered about undressing in-front of the goldfish - I don't have one!
At this point my thoughts were doing somersaults, as I suspect yours are doing right now!
What do you think? Do you undress in front of your pets?

😳. I have no pets around here so I don't have to worry about traumatizing them. Our last little dog (Bella) had cancer and dementia...(I didn't even know that animals could get dementia) and we had to have her put to sleep. Victor you amaze me with the things you come up with... got to love it all. Big Blessings to you and yours..
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Bella. Sorry to hear this, Shug. No, I did not know dogs could have dementia. My dog has seen me in the shower and is now blackmailing me about it.
DeleteGod bless you and your family, Shug.
I guess I never thought about it and we don't have a pet. I don't know where you get your ideas either.
ReplyDeleteMy dog told me to write about it.
DeleteGod bless you, Sandie.
Mercy!! How your mind wanders!! I have not had any pets for over 10 years so I won't respond to the question about what they see/don't see. I do believe that those in Heaven can see us now, that "great cloud of witnesses..." but I don't think they judge us. I think they say to each other, "So-in-so just doesn't know any better YET." Those in Heaven have been where we are and now they see things from God's perspective. At least, that's how I think of it (and can therefore sleep at night without worrying about it).
ReplyDeleteSo ... is it true that those in Heaven can see us? All the time? Now I'm really worried.
DeleteGod bless, Barbara.
I've had dogs, and now cats only, and have never thought much about showering or getting dressed in front of them. I think they get used to that. However, I have noticed that noises and turning lights on/off can affect them. For example, the sound of thunder and loud noises when I have the TV on, or when I walk into a dark room where they're at and suddenly turn the lights on. I also think they sense when I'm feeling down. However, I also agree with Barbara, and "the Great Cloud of Witness." I wrote a sermon about that once, and believe they rally us on through out our lives. But like Barbara said, when we make mistakes, they probably say, "So-and-so just doesn't know any better YET." As Christians, we're all on the journey of life, and we will all make mistakes. But with God's help, we can get back on track. (Of course, he's also watching us.)
DeleteGreetings Rev Arnoldo, it's good to see you visiting here. Please call again soon and often.
DeleteYes, I've noticed that our dogs do sense when we're feeling down or unwell. As for those in Heaven watching us ... I think I'd better behave just in case.
God bless you and thanx.
I have no pets but had many dogs. I always undressed in front of them but never understood why they just left the room. :)
ReplyDeleteThanx for this, Bill; according to the article it's because they get confused.
DeleteGod bless you.
... not having any pets I've not given this any thought!
ReplyDeleteBut on a positive thought I wish you a happy rest of the week.
All the best Jan
Thank you so much, Jan. Best wishes and God bless.
DeleteHmm, never gave it much thought! I guess that pets have seen so much of what humans do, so they aren't fascinated by nudity. After all, I have seen dogs do stuff to each other, so they don't care about us. Thanks for you comments on CCR. Could you please go to the post below it about libraries? I thought about what you would think about it.
ReplyDeleteThanx Anonymous. Don't know what CCR is. God bless.
DeleteEvery morning my late Macie Ann used to 'help' me make the bed and get clothed. Silly me, describing the process article by article -- but I'd pretend she understood.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think they understand more than we give them credit for. I taught my dog to play Monopoly. When he wants to buy a place he marks it by raising his back leg.
DeleteGod bless, Mevely.
No pets now so no worries here. :)
ReplyDeleteThanx K. God bless.
DeleteOur cat doesn’t care any more what we do and as for the people in heaven, they are too busy just being with God to be watching us.
ReplyDeleteThe cat is now probably used to what he sees., Mimi. God bless you.
DeleteThe cat pays me no mind when I change my clothes.
ReplyDeleteSame as Mimi's cat, I guess.
DeleteGod bless, Kathy.
