Happy Birthday Sir Cliff Richard

SIR CLIFF RICHARD OBE
80 YEARS OLD
14 October 1940

Cliff Richard is a British singer, musician, performer, actor and philanthropist. Richard has sold more than 250 million records worldwide.

He has achieved 14 UK number-one singles, and is the only singer to have had a number-one single in the UK in each of five consecutive decades.

"We don't talk any more" was a great hit in the USA together with his other major hit "Devil Woman"
In 1966 Cliff Richard announced publicly that he was a Christian. Many thought this was a bad move in secular Britain and that it would end his career. Of course, it did not.

He released several Christian records as well as his usual rock music.

In November 1999 he released "The Millenium Prayer". It was banned by many radio stations in Britain and did not get any air time. Despite this it reached Number One in the charts.

    1. Not sure how successful he was in the USA - he is the second highest sales records in the world after Elvis Presley.

      God bless, Tom.

  2. Thanks for the flashback Victor. Although Cliff was never big in the US, I remember him being in a Billy Graham movie and, of course, Devil Woman. Fantastic singer with a great voice. I'm going to check out Spotify when I am done here. And thanks for the Christian music reference. I'm checking those out as well.

    1. It's good to see you visiting here again, Bill. Thanx.

Cliff was very courageous back in 1966 to proclaim his Christianity; and I remember seeing him on TV with Billy Graham at a rally in Birmingham England in 1984. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhzeKCuURF4

      God bless.

  3. Of course I remember "We Don't Talk Anymore." In fact, it took a couple encores to make me sit back down and watch the rest. (*smile*) I'd not heard his Millennium Prayer, but I love it.... shared on Facebook!

    1. Thanx for sharing on Facebook, Mevely. Cliff recorded a number of Christian records. Hence being the subject of ridicule in the UK. A very brave man to stand up and proclaim his beliefs. See the link I put on Bill's comment above.

      God bless, Mevely.

  13. Hi Victor,
I have always liked Cliff Richard and loved his singing. I have not heard of the prayer song. The fact that it was banned by many radio stations did not matter, they were the 'losers'.I will come back and listen to it when I have more time. Thank you for sharing. God bless
