On the day of judgement Jesus will separate people to His right and to His left.
He will say to those on His right, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”
They will ask Him when did they do these things. And He will respond "Whatever you did for the least amongst you; you did it for Me!"
Then He will say to those on the left, "You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels ... ... ..."
They saw similar people in their lives and ignored them and did nothing to help.
Could it be clearer than that?
Matthew 5:44. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you..

AND..Do you think that God will actually say...

What do you think God will say to those people who ignored the poor and needy on their doorsteps?

I think that those on the left hand, will, and should
be given a final chance to redeem themselves and their
souls..possibly that's why there is a purgatory..!
Everyone should have the chance to say sorry..and try
again..! God! Will allow that..!

...many "Christians" only remember the scriptures that they care to remember.

Thank you Jack. It is very clear to me that by caring and loving others (or not) we will be judged. There will be no second chance to repent and change our ways. Once we're dead we can hardly help others worse off than us. It will be too late to repent.

I give what I can when I can, which lately isn't very often or very much, I donate good clothing and books to the local secondhand shop and I've dropped coins in a few beggars caps, but mostly I look out for my family first. If they need help, I'm there. I help out my neighbours when they ask too, but only if I can. There are things I just can't do anymore.
