I've just seen "It's A Wonderful Life" on TV.
Can you imagine what your life would have been like if it was not this life you are living now?
You are all probably married, or not. With children and grand-children. Or not. Doing this job, or that. Or not.
You are living your lives now. But how would it have been if it was a different life? Have you ever thought about that?
In a different life I would probably have been working in a zoo rather than in management in a multi-national organisation.
I've always loved animals, although they have not always loved me.
I like horses. I spent a fortune on sick horses. Mind you, I did not know they were sick when I bet on them to win the race.
I lost a girl-friend because of animals. I told her I worked with animals. She found out I was a butcher and left me.
I once helped a hedgehog which was trapped in amongst some thorns in the garden. In helping him I got injured with his needles and had to go to hospital where a nurse injected me with medicines in case of infection.
This not only proves that I like animals, but it is also a reminder that you should always wear clean underwear, because you never know when you'll show your backside to a complete stranger!
Why is it that our dog poops in the garden and I am the one who has to clear it up, and not him? Is this more proof of my love for animals?
But let's go back to where I started. "It's A Wonderful Life".
How would your life have been different if it was not as it is today?

...yes, it is a wonderful life!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteGod bless.
Oh so many twists and turns our wonderful lives have made. I shudder to think how my life would have been, before finding Jesus. I was on a one way ticket to destruction when He plucked me up and out of the quagmire of my consequences. Even then, I wouldn't change any of those hard times, because they led me to Him!
ReplyDeleteHaha on the one liner about working with animals...as a butcher! Too funny.
How well-written and from the heart, Debby. Yes, many amongst us would agree that our lives would have been totally different, and worse, before we met Christ.
DeleteSo glad you like my humour. God bless you always.
If you really go back and think about it, it really has been a good life.
ReplyDeleteJesus was by your side all the time, Sandie.
DeleteGod bless you.
Yes, I've sometimes wondered ..... how different my life might have been had I not done or said 'this or that.' The idea of not knowing my wonderful son, however, makes me quickly realize how blessed I've been.
ReplyDeleteI think that's the main lesson from the film "It's a wonderful life". It shows that our existence here on earth is inter-connected with that of so many other people. Not just our families and friends; but sometimes complete strangers we'd never met before. We are at a given place at any time because God wants us to be so, to meet people He wants us to meet and connect with.
DeleteLet me tell you a story, Mevely. When I worked in London I often visited different churches at lunch time and spent a few moments there. One January, I sat in a church at lunch time praying. Moments later a man came in and sat not far from me. He said he'd come from Scotland looking for work in London and was unsuccessful. He did not have his fare home and wondered whether the pastor/vicar would loan him some money. I didn't even know who the pastor was at this church. I opened my wallet and all I had was Scottish bank notes, having just returned from Edinburgh for the New Year. (They have a different currency there). I gave him all I had.
You should have seen his face seeing money from his own country. I hope this made him trust in God a little.
God bless.
Good advice on wearing clean underwear. I've often thought of how differently my life would have been had I perhaps married one of my previous boyfriends, or had I not changed jobs when I did which causes you to do different things, meet different people. Fun story about underwear, back in the day.....way back, I had a package that were each different colors with the day of the week on them. I grabbed the wrong pair one day, ended up in the hospital ER and admitted to the floor I worked on. Got lots of grief from my co-workers about wearing the wrong day of the week.
ReplyDeleteOh that's really funny wearing the wrong day underwear and being found-out by your colleagues. Some underwear these days have risqué slogans on them - that should be a talking point at a hospital.
DeleteAs you say, Sandy; life could have been different had we taken different decisions in our past.
God bless you.
Wonderful or not, it's beautiful, always thankful for another day.
ReplyDeleteAmen Bill. God bless.
DeleteI've seen that movie LOTS of times. Yes, it is a wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, K. God bless.
DeleteI know I would not be the person I am today without all the things (both good and bad) that have happened in my life.
ReplyDeleteIt is those experiences that make us grow in person and character. God bless you Kathy.
DeleteLife is a rich tapestry which weaves one way and another.
ReplyDeleteMake each day a good one and be thankful for each and every day.
All the best Jan
So wisely said, Jan, thank you. Best wishes to you and your family. God bless always.
DeleteI agree with the above commenter, Tom. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, Linda.
DeleteIt seems to me, if our lives were different, we wouldn't be ourselves. Maybe it's God's kindness not to tell us what might have been if we'd chosen differently in our lives.
ReplyDeleteAmen Mimi. Well said. God bless you.
DeleteGood morning Victor... I actually watched "It's a Wonderful Life" twice this season. I am so very thankful for the life I live and more so, thankful for the steps that God has ordered for me. You truly are a hoot with your postings and I look forward to the year ahead and all of your comedy.. Have a wonderful day...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment, Shug. You are right, we should be thankful for our lives in the knowledge that Christ has been with us at every step. I know He helped me through my difficulties.
DeleteHappy New Year to you and your family. God bless.
