Only recently, on TV, at the bottom of the screen there were two such instances of time wasting headlines. They show you a breaking news story so that you hang on a bit and don't change channel.
The trick is to use a celebrity name and link it to a story that really has nothing to do with the celebrity.
Let me give you two examples. The names of the celebrities have been changed slightly but you'll recognise them.
John Fathead's cleaner arrested for speeding in the highway
Ex-gardener of Sophie Sofat dies suddenly
In both of these headlines your attention has been drawn to the celebrity's name; but in essence, having wasted your time reading the story, you realise that it has nothing to do with the celebrity in question.
So what if a cleaner has been caught speeding or a gardener (sorry ... ex-gardener) has died.
I don't know about you, but I find such headlines irritating. That is why I did not mention Salvador Dali in the title of this post.
I'll leave you to suggest a better title.
