Forgive my thoughts

I found a book in the attic the other day. It said all the dinosaurs died when a comet hit the earth and they were all killed. Why were they all at one place, I wonder? Were they at a Dinosaur Conference on global warming or global cooling and the comet hit them? I bet they did not see it coming; because they were indoors.

Which came first? Global warming which melted all the ice glaciers or global cooling which brought the ice age? I asked my AI program. It replied, "Why do you want to know you nosey git?"

It was a woman's voice. I reckon Google must be a woman because she knows everything but will not always tell you.

I said nothing further. I guess a woman will always have the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

As I was saying before my thoughts interrupted me; I was in the attic cleaning it with my wife the other day. Now I can’t get the cobwebs out of her hair. It's been a week now and she says she still remembers it as if it was last week.

Here's another thought, are people born with photographic memories, or does it take time to develop?

Can any of you explain this to me? : A Roman legionnaire walks into a bar, holds up two fingers and says, “Five beers, please.” I don't understand it; do you?

Or this one: What do you get when you cross a dyslexic, an insomniac, and an agnostic? Someone who lays awake at night wondering if there’s a dog.

A Sobering Thought

Some readers of this Blog are Christians. A number do not believe in God at all. I can tell from the comments and e-mails I receive. The thing is, whether one believes in God or not, we shall all one day stand face to face with God our Creator and give an account of ourselves.

Some non-believers may scoff at my statement. But let that be as it may.

Now here's a thought. Let us assume that today you are face to face with God and He asks you to account for your life. What would you say?

I don't mean you tell Him that you're a doctor, teacher, car mechanic, parent, or whatever else describes your profession or status in life. I mean what would you tell Him about the good you have done in your life? Especially the good you have done to people without them knowing about it, or to people who have no way of repaying your kindness.

What good have we all done in our lives thus far? Will we be remembered for who we were or what we have done?

Here's another thought from the top of my head. Today is an opportunity to start doing something good every day I can tell God about when I get to meet Him.

The devil of a thought

For those who follow Christ, there will be times, often perhaps, when thoughts will come to mind and take over and control their whole being. The devil will introduce idle, seemingly irrelevant thoughts at first, and these will grow into a state of negativity that will empower your whole being.

The closer we are to God in prayer, love and obedience the harder the devil works to lead us astray. There is no point in him tempting those who do not believe.

The devil knows us very well; he knows our weaknesses and our fears. He plays on those fears and will turn those thoughts into worries and severe anxieties about the future, about our loved ones, about health or financial issues, or anything else that would take our focus away from God.

We need to recognise these temptations immediately as they manifest themselves. The more our lives are centred on Christ the easier this reflex reaction will become; and at the very first instant we turn away every shred of anxiety over to Jesus by praying repeatedly, "over to you, Lord, help me."

We consciously, and as forcibly as we possibly can, we exclude from our mind every anxiety and evil-inspired thought and hand it over to God's influence. And with trust and hope see Him restore peace of mind and optimism into our lives.
