Thank you for the flowers that grow in blossoms on the trees
Old familiar faces that I'm always glad to see
Comic strips and fish and chips and people who like me
Thank you Lord Thank you Lord
Thank you for all the creatures from the mouse to kangaroo
Lambs and spreading birds that fly across the skies so blue
If we took a closer look we'd learn a thing or two
Thank you Lord Thank you Lord
Gratitude is a simple debt that anyone can pay
Thank you is two little words that go a long long way
So however busy, help me find the time to say
Thank you Lord Thank you Lord
Thank you for the happy songs that bounce inside my ears
Something clicking something picking the songs I love to hear
Spinning tops and busy shops with Christmas drawing near
Thank you Lord Thank you Lord
Thank you for your only Son who hung upon the tree
Dying so that we might live for all eternity
It's not much in return but Lord for what you did for me
Thank you Lord Thank you Lord
NOTE: I should be grateful for your help please. This song was played by me on my radio program many years ago. Unfortunately all I have is the tape of that program. I do not have the record and I do not know who the singer is, nor the lyrics. I listened to the tape several times and wrote out the lyrics above. Can anyone please help identify the singer or the song and when it was recorded?
Many thanx. God bless.
...indeed, there are so many things to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteAmen Tom.

Dearest Victor,
ReplyDeleteYeah, hearing the song—Thank you for all the creatures from the mouse to kangaroo—it made me grin!
On the night following our Thanksgiving Day, one of our five kitties came back into the house (guess she had to do her thing...) at 4:00 AM soaking wet and with a rat...
Haha, the rat was dead but she announced her trophy so lud that all kitties went to look at it and so did I.
Took it downstairs, grabbed a towel for our kitty huntress and went back to bed...
One never knows what comes next!
Hugs,
Mariette
Yes, cats often bring in their trophies to "share" with their owners. I have tried ratatouille. Tastes nice with a red wine - plenty of red wine, and whisky to follow.
DeleteGod bless, Mariette.
Haha—RATATOUILLE is a good one! Maybe that was Spunky's intention...😼
DeleteI wish I could help you identify the origin of this song, Victor, but I can't, even though the lyrics sound familiar. Let us always remember to be thankful!
ReplyDeleteSadly, all I have got is an old tape of my radio program which has lost its magnetic coat and therefore sound quality. Took ages to clean it up to its current digitized quality.
DeleteHere's the radio program:

Those are wonderful lyrics, I wish I could help identify the artist but I don't know who it is either.
ReplyDeleteThanx Brian. It's a song I played on my radio show years ago. I wish I'd kept a note of the record and singer.

DeleteThe search for the song goes on. I have searched the T'Internet !!!
God bless.
Well, darn. I thought for sure, I'd be the one to identify this song. Unfortunately, even my phone's recognition app doesn't help. With sentiments like this you'd think it would be a bigger hit.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mevely. I would have thought the song would have been a hit and well covered on the Internet. I searched everywhere, Google, sound recognition apps, I put it on other social media ... nothing.
DeleteThank you for searching it for me.
God bless you and your family.
This is a new one on me. Maybe someone who was working with you when you were in radio could help you identify it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've tried, Mimi.
DeleteGod bless.
