Order ... Order ...

Order ... Instruction ... Direction ... Structure ... Guidance ... Discipline ...

We all need some kind of organisation in our lives. It's the only way to avoid chaos and destruction. If we all went out and drove on the wrong side of the road, and ignored speed limits and traffic lights ... well, you can guess what will happen.

The thing is, many of us would like to think, or believe, they are free spirits. Young people especially, although older folks are not immune from this phenomenon. People may think they're "independent" but in reality they follow the "rules" of fashion, taste in music, house style, food fads and so on.

We are creatures who require order and guidance in our lives.

God knows that. God is a God of order. See how the planets and stars all follow a certain orderly pattern. How life, whether human, animal or plants follows a pre-set orderly determined pattern.

God wants order in His creations. That is why He gave us the Ten Commandments through Moses.

I met my friend Moses the other day. He said he put the Ten Commandments on Facebook and did not get any "likes" or thumbs up.

That is because we all think we're independent. We know better. We can do things our way, and look after ourselves. Who needs God these days?

Until things go wrong in our lives. Then we rush home, or to church. Get God out of the cupboard and brush away the dust that has accumulated over the years. And ask Him to save us.

God is not a magic wand or an Aladdin's lamp.

How do you think He feels when we treat Him like that?

How would you feel if your friends or family members only come running to you when they need something?

Let's grow up and treat God with the respect, love and reverence He deserves.

  2. Perfect message for Sunday, Victor! This reminds me of something I shared back in 2009 about God's order and accuracy. (Nope, I didn't fact-check anything; it feels best to believe.)

  3. Just a very good, common sense suggestion that would make the entire world better, when you said:
Let's grow up and treat God with the respect, love and reverence He deserves.

Such a simple straight forward solution.

    Love ya,
From over here wishing you a great day...

  4. So sad, but I think if Moses was on Facebook today, he'd be banned or flagged. May we never put God in a cupboard or on the shelf. He needs to be front and center every day!
    Blessings, Victor!

    1. That's modern fashionable society, Martha. People do not want to believe. They have more urgent materialistic priorities. Let's have fun today no matter the consequences.

      God bless.

  5. Hi, Victor, we have finally returned from our wonderful - almost two weeks of travel I have missed reading your blog. This post is so very spot on in our society today. Society has pushed God from almost every single thing you can think of and has the gall to ask what is wrong with this world. Wake up people and look to your Creator for guidance. Blessings to you and yours.

    1. It's so wonderful to see you back here Nells. I hope you had a grand holiday.

When I was at school, we started the day with prayers. The whole school in the big hall saying prayers and singing hymns. Now God is not mentioned in schools, at work, or in society generally.

      God bless you.

  6. Yes, you said it well.
The 10 commandments show us how FAR from perfect we really are.

  7. Dearest Victor,
Yes, for several decades now the Evil Forces have been working hard for erasing Religion. It is off the table and with that all moral values! That is what they want to create, chaos and egocentric lifestyles. Sure, lots of counselors but those are by far not comparable to the true guidance we already received from the Old Testament figures like Moses in your post above. And not only Moses, on and on and finally Jesus who taught us about Good and Evil and also about the consequences of both! But people pretend they are smarter than that...Like you so well wrote: 'Until things go wrong in our lives. Then we rush home, or to church. Get God out of the cupboard and brush away the dust that has accumulated over the years. And ask Him to save us'.
That might be too late for many!!!
Guess many in Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands are now suddenly dropping to their knees when the havoc of floodwater has killed several hundred and damaged so much. A good lesson to those pretentious modernist that thought they can do without God! No, we're all just pitiful tiny ants on this planet and better start really thinking about our afterlife as none of us is here for eternity!
    Big hugs,
    Mariette

    1. You said it well when you said, "we're all just pitiful tiny ants on this planet". The problem is that many people think they are very clever, they have all the answers, and they know best. In doing so, deliberately or unconsciously, humanity is distancing itself from God, its Creator.

Thank you for your contribution, Mariette; and for all your charitable work.

      God bless.

  9. that whole 'free spirits' deal only works for a short time and too easily leads to confusion and crazymaking that can leave imprints for a lifetime.

praise God we find our freedom and joy in Him. we are free indeed!

    1. Yes, sadly you are right, Linda. People think they can get on through their abilities alone.
