Audience of one

Imagine you are a very famous performer; an award winning actor perhaps, or a great singer, or a world class musician playing the piano, violin, or other instrument better than anyone else.

Imagine you are giving a well advertised performance at the Albert Hall in London, or at Carnegie Hall. You stand on the stage and there is only one person in the audience.

What would you do? Would you carry on with your performance or give up and leave?

What if the one person in the audience is very famous; like the King of the UK, or the President of the USA, or someone else very prominent? What would you do then? Would you give the best performance of your life?

I know that many readers visit this Blog and some leave comments every now and then. Quite a few readers are very loyal and have been visiting here for years; for whom I am very grateful indeed. Even though we have not met in real life, and some have written to me privately, to me you are all great friends and I am glad I met you through the Internet.

Each one of you, individually, is important to me.

When I write these posts here I often imagine an audience of one. Just you reading this. I ask myself, "I wonder how will X react to this post and what will their comment be?"

By concentrating on just one person it helps me focus on the subject I am writing about and how to choose my words and paraphrase my sentences properly. I don't often succeed, but I try my best not to offend or be misunderstood.

Now let's imagine the only person reading my Blog is Jesus.

Wow ... what do I write about and how do I write it?

I hope He has a sense of humour because some of my posts will land me in real trouble.

What if everything I say and do in life is heard and watched by an audience of one - JESUS?

(Gasp ... short period of silence).

Being a Christian is very difficult indeed.

    1. The hard bit is being and behaving as He would expect you to at all times. Can you do that, Tom?

      God bless.

  2. I've also wondered what a specific person would think about my posts.

  3. I care what people think, Cannot help it. There have been times in my life I have said (to myself) I WISH I did not give a s--t what people think, but I cannot help it. I am VERY sorry to admit there was a time in my life I said to myself, I don't care what Jesus thinks, if there is a Jesus! ....... I am humbled NOW when I think how understanding and loving HE IS!
BTW THANKS my friend for being a friend. I still hope beyond hope I will make another trip your direction, would love to share fish and chips with you!

    1. Sometimes in life, Jack my friend, we have difficulty in believing that Jesus exists/existed. We think it is all a fairy tale; a "Once upon a time story". This is often the devil playing with our minds to lead us astray. I know ... it happened to me.

I'm glad we met through Blogger, Jack. I hope we can meet sometime for some fish and chips.

      God bless you and Sherry.

    1. I'm so pleased you like this book, Jack. I tried to select a mix of topics to talk about and get my readers to think. (See my cartoon on the last page).

      God bless you and yours.

  5. That is the best mindset any of us could have when we write our blogs, Victor. Jesus is always our audience of one, the most important One. Blessings!

  6. Like Jack, I often care too much what others think, or how many 'likes' I might get on Facebook or my blog. (What to leave in, what to take out.) Have I touched any 1's heart or mind?
In the end, there's only ONE I need to concern myself with.

    1. I find I have to be careful in what I write so as not to appear too "preachy". I know that some of my readers do not believe in God so I try my best not to antagonise them but make them feel welcome. I don't always succeed judging from the fact that some have left not to return.

Also, I have to be careful with my humour. Sometimes it is too risqué for some delicate souls!!!

      God bless you, Mevely.

  7. Indeed, that audience of One is my focus. Sometimes He directs me to delete what I've written and to start over. .... sometimes I fail to pay attention ....

  8. You've asked the most important question. How we answer determines our life course.

Yes, I believe our Creator, all Three Persons, have a good sense of humor. Only a Creator with a sense of humor could make an ostrich or platypus. Or me, for that matter.

  9. I do care what others think of me and I care very much what God thinks of me. I am not a saint - but I try very hard to think of Jesus whenever I do anything. I do slip up, I try then to confess and say I'm sorry, but that somehow escapes my mind at times - but I try to keep going.
