I thought my family tree was just a wizened small twig with nothing much to speak of until I started my genealogy search. It seems that my family dates back to this man ... ... ...

...my mother was adopted and never knew anything about her biological family. I can only go back three generations on my father side,
ReplyDeleteI gave up searching after 4 or 5 generations. Got all complicated.
DeleteGod bless, Tom.
Dearest Victor,
ReplyDeleteAncestry will for most of us always remain a puzzle until we finally meet again and get to know the ones before us...
Hugs,
Mariette
Amen Mariette. You are right.

DeleteHaHa! As soon as you start a paragraph with
ReplyDelete'I do not lie' Victor..I think..Hello! Ere! We go...
You must have the most loveliest and biggest
roses in anyone's garden..what with ALL the
Bull**** you come out with..mind you l'm just
as bad..! :)
So...Coats of arms are granted to individuals,
not families or surnames...
A form of property, coats of arms may rightfully
be used only by the uninterrupted male-line
descendants of the person to whom the coat of
arms was originally granted...!
I must say, l do enjoy watching the old knights
of old..on horse or donky's back..charging each
other..what ever it cost..with lances and fighting
with swords, "Take that you varmin..take that..and
that..and that"..
William Shakespeare loved knights and their bravery
so much that he actually dedicated an entire book to
knights...
The playwright named this as 'Twelfth Knight'...
There was this knight who would be always
roasting whatever he would catch for food...
Guess this is why he was known as the Bonfire
Knight...
When I asked my friend why the dark ages were
known as such, he replied that it was because
there were too many knights...! :O).

DeleteIf my ancestors wanted me to know who they were, they would have left me a letter or diary to tell me!
ReplyDeleteMine left a Coat of Arms inscribed in Latin.
