Our innermost secrets

Let's be honest folks ... let's be honest with ourselves. You don't have to tell me anything either in the comments box below or by e-mail in the "Contact Us" tab above. Not unless you want to.

This is just between you and your conscience. It's about your relationship and your communication with God. Sure ... you pray. Many people do. It may be a quick recitation of a prayer we've learnt or a quick request for a favour or two ... and sometimes, less often, we may thank Him for things that turned out well in our lives.

What I'm suggesting we focus on is our sharing with God. Do we share with Him our innermost thoughts, our innermost secrets, fears, worries and desires?

There is nothing that we need that He does not already know about. There is nothing that we might ask Him or pray about that He has not heard about before. He will not be shocked or scandalised by what we ask. But He likes to hear from us all the same.

We should not just run to God in prayer when we are faced with big problems, with seemingly insurmountable situations and when we are really in a panic. Sure we pray to Him then, but also we should pray to Him about the small matters in our lives. Nothing is too big or too small for His attention. We should not keep the small problems to ourselves in the hope that we will resolve them ourselves, or that they'll go away, or that the doctor will find a cure, or this or that excuse not to bring them to God in prayer.

God wants to hear about all our problems and worries before they become big and we are open to temptations from the evil one. Often people worry about things by themselves and torment themselves about something until it cripples their very thoughts. Let us bring our thoughts to God. Let us share our innermost fears and concerns as if we are sharing with a friend. He is more than a friend. He is our Creator who loves us and cares for us.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7.

  1. It's surprising to...That even someone who is not
religious, does not pray, does even believe, but in
there own way turn to God...
If they should experience an accident, cut themselves,
hit their finger with a hammer..the usual comments are....
Oh! My God..! Ow! Jeeeese! God help me! and so on,
    sometimes even stronger language..! :(.

So, whether a believer or not..we ALL turn to the
almighty for help, it's also a sense of security, to know
at least someone or something is there to help...!

And talking to God is the same as praying, because
prayer is at its core, conversation with God...
"Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you
and God"...(I think Billy Graham said that)..

And l must say...l have very little trouble from the evil
one...even though you can't see his horns, a tail, and
face..he still sticks out like a sore thumb..l look him
straight in the eye and say...
    "Get behind me satan"...

    1. Indeed, prayer is a two-way conversation involving listening too on our part.

  3. Dearest Victor,
Indeed, Philippians 4:6-7 is a powerful part and we better heed that!

  4. I don't know why you wouldn't use all the tools that God gives you. A conversation is always a great way to start and end the day with thanks.

    1. Some people do not share everything with God. They feel they can deal with matters by themselves and they are in control. Sad, isn't it?

God bless you, Bill my friend.

  9. It took me a long time to understand and appreciate that God actually wants to hear from little ol' me. But, He certainly does! I need to remind me of that fact daily, and talk to my Father in love, trust and hope.
    Blessings, Victor!

  10. Since He already knows, it's best to go ahead and talk to Him about it anyway, it makes everything better. Prayer may not change things, but it certainly changes us.

  11. What a blessing to come to God in prayer. To sit in silence with Him, to hear what he wants to tell me , as well as telling Him everything. Time for Him, time for me - together x
