Are you a whinge? (British word: complain persistently and in a peevish or irritating way.)
Be honest now. You don't have to tell me. It's none of my business. But be honest with yourself. Do you sometimes, often, more often than not, whine and cry and bemoan what could have been? Do you see the dark side of a situation? Do you find yourself, at a moment with nothing to do, thinking about a particular problem and how bad things are right now? Personally. Family wise, Economically, Nationally. Internationally. Or any other way.
When we think negatively, and let's be honest we all sometimes do, we unleash the power of negative thinking. One bad thought leads to another. What if this were to happen? And how about that? And how would it affect my loved ones? Spouse, children, siblings, parents and others?
The slightest tiniest flash of negative thought opens the door to countless others that follow into our train of thoughts that soon turns into an unstoppable locomotive that could derail us into depression and oblivion. And this is the very moment that the devil is looking for to feed our negativity with more darkness and doom.
By being a whinge we are insulting God, because we are saying that we do not really trust Him to look after us.
One sure way to put the brakes on that negative train of thought is through prayers. We should stop and force ourselves to think how bad things could really be. No matter how gloomy we feel right now, consider what it would be like if we were suddenly faced with a situation far more dire and far more real!
And through prayer, we thank God for our condition right now. We thank Him for caring for us more times than we can possibly imagine and protecting us from many real dangers that we have not even thought of.
As a loving Creator, He knows our human nature and our tendency to let our minds wander into darkness. He knows that the devil is always there to take advantage of our moments of weakness. As a loving Father, He is always near at hand to help us and protect us. But we need to ask Him ... and thank Him.
'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.' (John 14:1-6)
ALL those questions Victor and on Friday 13th.....! :(.

there ever will be"..
I'm a very positive thinking person, l've always taken
things that life has thrown at me, and tackled it in a
sensible and honest way..No lies, no deceit...and, as
they say..'Tell the truth and shame the devil'..
If l had a moto..that just might be it, besides, l very

You certainly have a positive attitude to life, Willie. Well done. Praise God always.
DeleteGod bless.
...a term that isn't common here, but could apply to many people.
ReplyDeleteYes, an English term. It's like being a "Moaner Lisa!"
DeleteGod bless, Tom.
Do you know why? The Mona Lisa has 'NO'
Deleteeyebrows....
Because it was the fashion in the Renaissance
to shave them..
Women shaved their facial hair, including their eyebrows...(so there)....!
WRONG ... she has no eyebrows because she was totally surprised to see that Leonardo da Vinci had his zipp undone!

VICTOR....!!! That'll be three hail Marys and
Deletethree Our Fathers...! :).
Thankfulness is a road to peace.
ReplyDelete'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.' (John 14:1-6)
Amen.
Amen indeed, Sandi. We need to be more trustful in God's love for us.
DeleteGod bless.
Too many of us can too easily fall into the complaining trap when we should be giving God our thanks and praise instead. He will see us through!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Victor!
Every reason to moan should be turned into an opportunity to praise God for being in control and for caring for us.
DeleteGod bless you and family, Martha.
Dearest Victor,
ReplyDeleteYes, instead of the British Whinge we have Whine and it means the very same and has the exact same affect on a person(s) and the Devil!
Indeed, we must pray harder and more often as this world is in dire need of God. We need to get the upper hand in the Good and not let the Evil win.
Great post.
Hugs,
Mariette
Yes, prayers help also when we suffer, I'm not yet over the mountain but pain is far more bearable.
I agree, the devil always finds an opportunity to profit from our moans and whines. I am still praying for you, Mariette.
DeleteGod bless you and Pieter.
💞
DeleteSuch good food for thought! Thanks for 'splaining the meaning of whinge ... tho' I'm at a loss to pronounce it correctly. (Have to admit, the shirt threw me off at first.)
ReplyDeleteYes, in past years I could rightly be called whinge. It took not only retirement and moving here to change my outlook -- but also a closer relationship with God, thanks to you and my church sisters.
It is pronounced "Wind dge" soft ge like in GEnerous.
DeleteAs for the multi-coloured shirt, this is me as a young boy. See:

We all have a tendency to whine and moan, Mevely; especially when we feel things are not going so well, or when we're in pain. I'm certain God understands and forgives. I hope He does - or else I'm in trouble.
Thank you fro your kind words at the end of your comment.
God bless always dear friend.
Ha! I'd totally forgotten Aunt Matilda's creativity!
DeleteNever heard the word, but I have probably been a whinge at times. But I would think only other 'whinges' would like to be around a whinge.
ReplyDeleteBe good over there............ ;-)
I know some people who always whinge and moan that things aren't going their way. They find mistakes with everything.
DeleteLet's all cheer up together. Praying you are all well.
God bless you and yours, Jack.
I do my best to stay on the positive side of things.
ReplyDeleteI agree, although I find it difficult.
DeleteGod bless, Kathy.
Honestly no, I am not a complainer. I name all the things I am thankful for and it is very hard to complain while being thankful. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good attitude Happyone. God bless you.
DeleteIf the thoughts start to wander that way, sing a praise song. You can't stay negative singing a praise song.
ReplyDeleteHallelujah!
DeleteGod bless you, Mimi.
