Survey Research - Your views matter

I am conducting a major research survey that will revolutionise the way we live for many generations to come. I need your honest opinions and views. What you say matters as long as it is honest; albeit somewhat personal in nature. Please don't be shy. Please take part in this survey and either answer in the comments box below or write to me privately at enquiries@holyvisions.co.uk

The more people who take part in the survey the better and more accurate our analytical data will be. No personal information will be kept on file. Just your anonymous response for statistical data and for further scientific developments.

You are all no doubt aware of the Chcolate Digestive Biscuit:
This is my favourite brand but no doubt there are many other brands available for your enjoyment, delectation, pleasure and delight.

What I need to know:

Do you eat the biscuit with the chocolate layer uppermost (like in the photo)?

Or with the chocolate layer under the biscuit?

Or does it not matter to you?

Give reasons for your choices. Does eating the biscuit with the chocolate underneath enhance the flavour as the chocolate layer touches your tongue and stimulates your taste buds? Or do you prefer the crumbliness of the biscuit tickling your tongue and awakening your desires?

This information is essential to identify peoples' preferences and tastes. Statistics show that people in Australia for instance prefer to have the chocolate layer underneath the biscuit. Whereas this does not seem to be the case, generally, (within a +/- 62% margin of error), in the Northern Hemisphere. In the UK for example, we have discovered that 79% of 17 respondents did not care a crumb which side the chocolate was on as long as you gave them the whole packet.

So there you have it. What is your preference of the three choices above? Please be honest in your replies as we may, depending on general views, develop a biscuit with chocolate coating on both sides, and another with no chocolate coating on it whatsoever.

Wait a minute ... the second version already exists.

  1. I'm going to beg off on this survey. I've never seen this item before and even if I had I would be "lost."

  2. Gee...thanks a lot Victor! My doctor won't let me eat sweets and I used to love chocolate! Even though I have never seen the product above, it had me drooling...or maybe it's just because I'M old. Either way as Bob Hope used to sing "Thanks For The Memories"... NOT!!!

    God Bless 💮

    1. I'm surprised, Jan. Don't you have Chocolate digestives in the USA? A biscuit with chocolate coating on only one side? Just what the doctor ordered with a cup of tea ... don't you know ... what? By Jove ... splendid I'd say.

      God bless.

    2. Not that I am aware of.
But even if we did, I am a pre-diabetic...no sugar for me.
I will have to enjoy my toast with my tea and I do :)

      God Bless 💮

      God bless.

  3. When I heard of these cookies years ago on a trip to England I thought the name was a bit too ....icky. I mean, really? You guys invented the language. You had to call it something that conjures up the thought of biological processes and stomach things. Aaagh. Also, it is a cookie not a biscuit!

    1. I would still eat it. I mean, it is sugar and chocolate. I don't even care if it's chocolate on one side or the other. Yes, give me the whole package. Now!

    2. Right ... now you got me confused Sandi. The UK and the USA are two English speaking countries divided by language. What exactly is a biscuit and a cookie? What's the difference. Here in the UK everything is a biscuit - except for something called a Jaffa cake which is in fact a biscuit with and orange jelly filling covered with chocolate. It has been designated as a cake for taxation reasons. Biscuits have a tax - cakes not. Do you have Jaffa cakes in the USA? They are made by McVitie's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffa_Cakes

Here in the UK we have the American OREO - but it's a biscuit. Is it a cookie in the USA or a biscuit?

      I'm hungry now ...

      God bless.

  4. Like Bill, I'm going to have to recuse myself -- for no good reason except I don't like chocolate. :) Have a blessed day, Victor!

  5. Hi Victor, We have Digestives brand cookies here too! I have purchased them and like that they do not have a high sugar count and are delicious. I'm not sure that I have seen the chocolate ones with filling though. I have to be careful with both wheat and sugar but they are a great cookie. (biscuit)

    Blessings!

    1. How great it is to see you visiting me here Amelia. Thank you. Please call again soon and often. The digestive type biscuits I find are nice with a strong cup of coffee.

      God bless always.

  6. Alas! McVittle's Chcolate Digestive Biscuit is not available here in the wilds of darkest Minnesota.

Being a somewhat well-read Minnesotan, I have seen references to digestives/digestive biscuits - - - but this is the first time I have actually seen a visual representation of such things.

Thank you for expanding my cultural horizon, and best wishes on this vital survey!

    1. Hi Brian,

I thought these biscuits were widely available in the US. I seem to have been wrong. I have researched further and discovered this from Wikipedia:

A digestive biscuit, sometimes described as a sweet-meal biscuit, is a semi-sweet biscuit that originated in Scotland, and is popular worldwide. The digestive was first developed in 1839 by two Scottish doctors to aid digestion. The term "digestive" is derived from the belief that they had antacid properties due to the use of sodium bicarbonate when they were first developed.

Here it is on the USA Amazon site: https://www.amazon.com/McVities-Digestive-Biscuits-500g/dp/B00BHFBXWQ/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2S28HD72ZNPR2&keywords=digestive+biscuits+original&qid=1581628764&sprefix=digestive+biscuits%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-5

The price seems very expensive top me. Over here they are they are about £1.30 a packet; say about $1.50

      God bless.

    2. Odd - or maybe not so much. Central Minnesota isn't exactly the commercial hub of the nation. Certainly not on a par with places like Singapore or London.

And I haven't exactly been on a quest, searching for digestives: chocolate or otherwise. :)

    3. Agreed, Brian. It is odd that what started as being a humourous post, (my intention), turned out to be a discovery that such biscuits are not readily available in the US.

      God bless, Brian.

  7. Not a brand I have seen here in the States, Victor, but if I were to eat one, I'd just as soon have the chocolate on the top. Love the name "Digestive Biscuit." Let's sure hope it can be digested - lol!
    Blessings!

    1. Hi Martha,

I'm sorry, I assumed they were easily available in the US. See my reply to Brian above. The reason they are called digestives is because it was believed (when invented) that they helped the digestion. Perhaps when you visit the UK you can try them - there are many brands apart from McVitie's (my preferred brand).

I have them with the chocolate on top. A packet does not last long with me. Non-chocolate ones are good to dip in a cup of tea or coffee.

      God bless.

  8. As others have said we don't have them here. :(

  9. At a friends recently and she had some McVities Digestive Thins, they were dark chocolate and delicious. She said they do milk chocolate ones too!

    All the best Jan

    1. Hi Jan,

I'll look out for these next time we're at the supermarket. I didn't realise these biscuits are not easily available in America.

      God bless.

  10. Having never had them, i have no idea, but i can tell you i like the filling of the Oreo Biscuit better than the cookie part, does that help?

  11. They look familiar to what we here across the pond call cookies... They do look familiar and perhaps I have even eaten one or two.... or five... or ten.
I can't say that the direction of the chocolate would matter much as long as the chocolate was heading down the throat in a fairly swift fashion.
