Inspired by Jack

My blogging friend JACK posted the other day some photos of his trail walk. Inspired by his photos here are some from a place nearby here.

The area is a nature reserve for birds, fish and many insects and other small creatures such as field mice. Whenever I walk there one can hear the sound of many songbirds in the trees; although I cannot tell what they are - except for the ducks, swans and geese who follow you for something to eat.

  2. Thanks for the shout out my friend. I just wish I were the photographer and wordsmith you are. Love the pictures. I am thinking that that bird is about to break the rules, I believe it is about to go fishing! It also looks like it may be admiring its reflection. Over here we see many pines and cedars planted in a line, BUT those hardwoods are the first ones I have EVER seen in a line. Yep you live in the OLD country. ;-).
Sending love from over here and wishing I could take a walk in your area...

    1. Thanx Jack. I really enjoy visiting your Blog and learning from you.

I guess those trees were planted in a row many years ago by the river. We have some nice walks over here - when the weather allows it. It is raining heavily right now.

God bless you and Sherry & family.

  3. Dearest Victor,
Those are lovely pictures and you should alternate your posts often with such visual beauty—instead of dry words.
Readers don't visit your blog for READING—for that they hopefully order your excellent books!
But just scanning and viewing the visual story—supported by some text.
You and Jack could both benefit from my OLD post:https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-is-your-blogs-true-presence-on-web.html
Believe me, having other bloggers on the sidebar of your blog creates LOTS of backlinks and your web presence will soar!
Both your and Jack's blog is only in the triple digits and you can do far bettter!
Place your followers at the very top where they belong and as for your publications—you got already a link at the very top of your blog.
    Good luck!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Thank you so much for your advice and compliments. Mariette. I'll show this to my techie guy. He has placed a stats counter at the bottom of this page and I get monthly reports showing the number of visitors, and which pages (posts) they have visited and for how long they stayed on site.

About 70% of visitors are new ones rather than returning visitors. This is good for my purposes because, being a Christian site, it shows that i am spreading the net ever wider.

Also, the adverts for my books on the sideline bar on the right are often clicked as a result of someone reading my Christian posts. For example, they may read a post about Father Ignatius and then they click on his book on the right. This would not happen as often if they were to click on the "Fr Ignatius Books" tab at the top.

I post a number of humourous posts because they tend to attract new readers coming here for some fun and then sometimes move on to the Christian posts.

I try to provide a varied diet of Christian articles, humour, music, and so on.

      God bless always.

  5. Thank you for sharing these glimpses with us, Victor. They practically scream, "Serenity", don't they?

    1. Oops! Except, if they scream it wouldn't be so very serene. I need to remember to use my indoor voice.

    2. Yes Mevely. The place screams, or whispers, serenity. If you go deep in the surrounding woods by the lake you hear all kinds of birds in the trees. I can't tell one bird from another, but it is very pleasant. You can walk all round the lake's edge in about an hour or so. There's also a lot of different wild plants and flowers.

Picnics are only allowed in one area next to a Cafe. No barbecues allowed. It's so nice to find such a clean and tidy area.

      God bless.
