  1. Hi Victor, I believe the scripture 'Give us today our daily bread' means to be given the daily scripture that would speak to the believer daily as the believer grows in the 'body of Christ on earth'.(the Church). It is our daily Spiritual food. God bless.

  2. That's very enlightening and true. I think it can also apply to some areas of the world where starvation is now being used as a weapon of war. Daily bread is both the spiritual word and the basics needed for life.

  4. I think it's a huge combination of spiritual bread as well as our daily needs (food, shelter, love and compassion). He is the bread that sustains our hearts.

  6. This is a great article, Victor. I pray this every day, inserting specifics as necessary. It has helped me to quash that tendency to worry about my earthly future and just be content with the Lord's provisions for me today. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    1. Thank you, Barbara. Yes, when we pray we ask for more than our earthly needs and future; and we confidently believe that God will respond positively.

      God bless you, my friend.

  8. Greetings My Friend Victor: Thank-you for the links, yes many people ask for favors for themselves, we were taught do not ask for yourself but for the needs of others. When we say our Blessings at mealtime we also ask for special intentions for the ill, the lost and the downtrodden. Thank-you for a lovely post.

    1. Yes, we were taught the same when we were young; at meal times to be grateful for what we have and to pray for those who have not. I'm so pleased you enjoyed Father Francis' sermon, Catherine. He publishes a new sermon every day at https://fatherfrancismaple.co.uk

      God bless you my friend.

  9. Wonderful article! I so get what Barbara said about trying not to worry about our future. He's never let me down before, so why must I fret about tomorrow? One day at a time, sweet Jesus!

PS - I once heard a minister say, "The prayer goes 'daily bread' ... it doesn't mean the whole bakery."

    1. Oh if I had as much faith as you, Mevely. I agree, based on the past, God has never let me down ... ever. Yet, time and again I worry unduly and fret. Why is my faith so weak?

God bless you, Mevely - pray for me.

    2. Always ...I'm honored to do so. But if I'm being honest, there's not a day that goes by that Worry doesn't find me.

    3. Yes I understand. The devil knows our private fears and plays with them to lead us astray from God.

Thank you for your prayers my friend. I am praying for you and your family. God bless, Mevely.
