Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Check out the guitar playing.

Roy Orbison performs "Oh, Pretty Woman" backed by Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, Tom Waits, KD Lang, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, JD Souther, T Bone Burnett, Steven Soles, and Jennifer Warnes.

Talking of guitars, how about this towards the end.

Waylon Jennings

  1. Hi Victor, I have always loved Roy Orbison songs, especially Pretty Woman, I have not heard any of Waylon Jennings songs, but this one was lovely. God bless, and thankyou for sharing these songs.

    1. Yes, I liked Roy Orbison too. Waylon Jennings is a different genre altogether being a country singer. I used to play both singers' records when on the radio.

      God bless, Brenda.

  2. Roy Orbison's Black and White Night concert on September 30, 1987, when he was 51, was a remarkable comeback concert with the help of guest musicians whom he had influenced: Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes.

    1. Marvellous music and great musicians. They don't write them like that any more; or play music like them.

      God bless you, Tom.

  3. Tom still has Orbison's concert on a VHS somewhere, but I still prefer Waylon. Nice blasts from the past!

    1. True, Mevely; nostalgia isn't what it used to be. Orbison, Jennings and many others. That's what I call music. Now it is noise and half-dressed women pretending to sing. What is happening to this world? Am I getting old? Is it Friday still? Have the visitors been? Is this a care home or does it look like one? Am I being silly again?

God bless, Mevely. Keep smiling my friend.

    1. Hi Brenda,

Here are a number of Fr Francis songs I've put on YouTube - see column on the right at this link:

I've known him for many years. He sings for charity and has raised over £1m through singing in malls and shopping centres and concerts.

      God bless.
