Looking back, I remember years ago a group of us were having a political discussion. I was the youngest one there, and an elderly man, (now long gone), looked at me and said, "I'm sorry about the world we have left for you youngsters. A divided world, nuclear weapons, poverty and famine ... I dread to think how you'll survive!"
Well, survive we did. The world moved on faced with new challenges and difficulties, and somehow the generation which took over managed to steer us through to where we are today.
And now we have a new generation with new aspirations, hopes, and challenges which we have left them to resolve. They, perhaps rightly, are anxious about the damage we may be causing the planet. The disparity between rich and poor, injustices perceived or imagined, and many other generational differences which they are left to contend with.
As we observe these young minds steadily readying to take over from our generation, how confident are we that they will make it through? That they will navigate the ship through tempestuous waters to hand over to their future generations?
Of one thing I am certain, unless they have God by their side, unless they truly believe and have faith in Him, they will surely fail.
They turn their backs at their own peril.
...some how the world continues, with us or without us.
ReplyDeleteI guess you're right, Tom. God bless.
DeleteI suspect the same thing happens at the changing of each generation.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Kathy. God bless.
DeleteGood topic
ReplyDeleteThanx Christine. God bless.
DeleteSo stinking true! Without HIM and Hope we will surely not make it, BUT WITH HIM we SHALL OVERCOME!
ReplyDeleteLove from this side, we plan to have a great day!
Sherry & jack
It seems to me that the young generation think they know it all and don't need help or advice from anyone; especially Him. The world is becoming more secular, and from my observations ... more stupid. Only a selected few are managing to progress to knowledge and education.
DeleteWishing you a grand day Jack and Sherry. God bless.
I totally agree with Tom.
ReplyDeleteYes Bill, I agree. God bless.
DeleteHappy Friday my friend. Many blessings. Regine

God bless, Regine.
DeleteThis song resonates so deeply. I'll never forget the first time I heard the lyrics, I was crying so hard and had to pull the car over.
ReplyDeleteUnlike me, Tom has a very pessimistic view of today's young people. I just do my best to ignore him, lol.
Yes Mevely; the song reminds us that there always seems to be a generational gap - things we should have said or done and did not do in our relationship with parents/elders.
DeleteAs for young people: I am saddened and concerned at the level of atheism/non-belief in God. Young people seem to me more materialistic than previous generations. Perhaps because we did not have so much in our times. Today, (in the UK) people change their cell-phones on average every 9 to 12 months, clothes are thrown away after about ten wearings/washes, despite their concern for the planet youngsters seem to consume more fast food then ever previous generations resulting in more packaging thrown away and polluting vehicles delivering fast food everywhere. Usually people phone-in for fast food deliveries 3+ times a week.
God bless.
Dearest Victor,
ReplyDeleteOur previous generations were a lot more humble and they always lived in Faith—as poor as they were. That's how they kept the Faith—Hope—Love triangle alive.
Now the younger generations think they can do away with it and manage on their own.
Saving the planet is a death doer—only to show how 'concerned' they are.
God is in control of his Creation and all humanity and they better find their 'boarding pass' for the final destination!
Hugs,
Mariette
That's true, Mariette. As I said to Mevely above, today's youngsters seem much more unbelieving and materialist. They seem to have swapped faith for material things - clothes, food, electronics and so on.
DeleteGod bless.
Indeed Victor, they are all for — instant gratification but forget about the FINAL GRATIFICATION!
DeleteI think every generation worry about the world they are leaving to their children and grandchildren, but I have to agree, Victor - unless God is fully in the equation, all is for naught.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Amen Martha. That is my point.
DeleteGod bless you and yours.
The farther we get away from God the worse it will get.
ReplyDeleteAmen Happyone. God bless.
DeleteI'm with you, Victor. Without the Lord leading the way, we are sunk. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
ReplyDeletePeople seem to be distancing themselves from God.
DeleteGod bless, Linda.
All we can do is pray for them and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteAmen Mimi. You're so wise.
DeleteGod bless always.
