What's up Doc?

Years ago, when I lived in London I woke up one morning and discovered our cat laying on the back patio covered in dirt with a rabbit in his mouth. The rabbit's not bloody, just dirty.

As soon as it saw me the cat ran away. The neighbours raised rabbits so I guessed it was one of theirs. I picked up the rabbit and it was motionless. I'd read somewhere that some animals play dead when they're afraid to escape their predators. I brushed the dirt off the rabbit, jumped over the fence, and placed it back in one of the cages in their back yard. Luckily the neighbours were not at home.

Half-an-hour later I heard my neighbour’s wife screaming. So I got out and asked her what's wrong! She said their rabbit died that morning and they buried it but now it's back in the cage.

    1. The neighbour's wife did not think it was funny. I did. I asked her: "Are you sure the rabbit was dead?" She angrily replied, "Don't insult my intelligence!"

I wasn't; I was only questioning her intelligence.

Of course, I never told her I put the dead rabbit in the cage. I'm a coward.

      God bless, Mevely.

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ONE of the best stories I have read in a long time. GREAT!
Yep, over here, we do have an animal, the opossum, that plays dead when in danger. Not sure if you have them there, but I know that Rabbits do not just play dead..... ;-) Loved it, THANKS

    1. No we don't have opossums over here. May be I read the article wrong, I did not know which animal plays dead, and in my panic I put the rabbit back in its cage.

I hope the neighbour did not suspect me.

God bless you Jack and Sherry. Keep smiling.

  4. Dearest Victor,
Haha, had to laugh out loud and did read it to Pieter as well. We just had tea with mixed nuts after my drive to Atlanta back and forth = 295 miles or 475 km...
    Thanks for a hilarious story!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  7. You could always tell her your cat did it. Not that she would believe you...

  8. My head is spinning!! I had grands for four days, and they messed with my head quite enough for one week. I didn’t need the banana, as I can’t have too much potassium. Lol. Blessings.

    2. It is always great to have the family visiting, I'm sure. Thank you for visiting us here, Nells. I too found some of the quiz difficult; especially the rabbit, cat and dog one.

As for the dead rabbit! Well, the neighbour had quite a surprise.

God bless you and your family always.
