Two wheels or three

This question has often taxed my consciousness.

Why do people cycle to town and possibly fall off their bikes when they could go on a tricycle? Imagine, if we could all go on tricycles there would be far fewer accidents, people of all ages would be able to cycle to town or the city, and there would be no need for cars and buses with all their pollution. We would all tricycle safely everywhere.

There would be tricycle taxis for those not able to cycle, tricycles delivering pizzas, foods and products of all kinds and even the postman would be out on a tricycle instead of a car. There'd be traffic lights and road signs as now but only for tricycles.

Even I would go out on a tricycle. The fact I wear a bright green bow tie does not make me eccentric.

I am not appreciated in my own time.

    1. I'm not ... I keep falling off my bike. Even when it is tied to a tree. But then, I can't get anywhere.

      God bless, Tom.

  2. Okay, I'm with you (except in the hills and mountains!!!!) But you could have stumbled (or fallen) into the answer to pollution.....

    1. Oh Jack, my friend. I stumbled on the answer to pollution many years ago. People should eat less beans, (air pollution), and bathe less often, (water pollution), and sin less, (soul pollution).

      God bless you and yours.

  3. Dearest Victor,
Haha, a tricycle would get run over as they are too wide... Let us bike safely on our good bikes with wider tires and steady frames!
And no way you could push such a sucker up hill—not a brilliant concept 🤔

    1. All right, Mariette; how about a bicycle with tyres two feet wide. That would be OK for me to stop me falling.

      God bless.

  4. I like the idea except when it's cold, like it is now and or when it's raining; but it would indeed deminish the polution. I've seen some nice ones with big baskets for shopping. Back in the day (this is going to date me for sure), I was a Welcome Wagon Lady. I road my bike with a basket a good deal of the times when making my visits and it was quite a conversation starter. I was younger than, so did ok on a bike; and now I ride when we're out of town and there are bike trails where I don't have to deal with traffic, but never ride around here anymore due to the traffic.

    1. Nice to see you here again, Sandy.

When it's cold or raining then a tricycle would be no different to a bike anyway. People can use appropriate clothing. I've never heard of Welcome Wagon Lady; is that delivering meals on wheels to the elderly? We have people who do that over here using their cars.

The problem with bicycles is that I keep falling off. I tried tying two bicycles together side-by-side to make them wider but that did not work.

      God bless.

  5. Never mind the pollution, just imagine not having to buy gasoline! Plus, there'd be no need to spend $ on a fancy exercise bike ....going no-where.

    1. Yes I agree, when I buy gasoline it costs more that the value of the car. As for exercise bikes, I have installed a little tray on the handlebars of mine so I can have a snack whilst exercising. Also on my treadmill I have a tray with a glass or two of whisky to give me an incentive to walk up to the handlebars.

      God bless always, Mevely.

  8. Sad to say, they can't be used in all weather, people would arrive to work smelling like they'd just been to the gym and would be sent home to shower, thus megating the whole reason for riding to work, and those people who are speed demons in their cars would be angry at not being able to go fast enough. Nice idea, though.

    1. Oh, and how would mom get the whole family where they need to go?

    2. Both of your concerns can be easily solved, Mimi.

1 You can fit a shower to the tricycle so people can shower as they cycle to work. Cars would be taken off the road as more people use tricycles.

2 Moms could easily tie several tricycles to each other like a train and take the whole family to school. Again, a simple solution for large families; and very safe.

      God bless always.
