Dystopian Future World

There are a lot of films on TV about a dystopian future world. I had to look up the word dystopian:

relating to or denoting to an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice - the dystopian future of a society bereft of reason.

Basically it describes a world after we have blown each other up with nuclear weapons, or after a major disaster like global warming or total lack of ice cream or something terrible like that. In that world, few people survive and, according to the films, they live in wild small gangs fighting each other like wolves and scrapping for every bit of food or clean water to drink.
I would hate to live in such a world, wouldn't you?
If I were that unfortunate to be there I would try to earn a living by making ladies razors because, according to the films, the women all have their under-arms shaved. Their clothes may be dirty, and their hair unkempt, but their underarms are always shaved. Their legs too. The men invariably grow beards over time, and wear indestructible trousers that do not rip or tear at the back, and with unbreakable zips; yet the women always have shaved underarms. How do they do that?

I think I'd either make ladies' razor blades or men's trousers. Blades are easier, all you have to do is sharpen a piece of metal.

What would you do to make a living in such a world? Make toothpaste perhaps? The people in the films may be ragged and dirty but they all have bright clean teeth.

  1. Phew! All behind to~day......
Why did they stop making dystopian movies?

The dystopian fad may have faded in part because
young readers and viewers are ready for some positivity,
and for less fantastical, simplified problems and solutions.
But it may also be that they're doing the work themselves

    Best Dystopian films....
    Blade Runner (1982)...
    The Matrix (1999)...
    Robocop (1987)...
    A Clockwork Orange (1971)...
    Planet of the Apes (1968)...
    Logan’s Run (1976)...
    The Running Man (1987)...

And in a world such as would'nt be able
to earn a one to employ you, no one to
pay you for your would be..'on your
own'...mind you...a great competition comes to
    mind...ladies under arm hair V's men's beards...! :).
Men could have a 'face off' against ladies harmpits..! :).

But...! I could'nt be doing with ragged and dirty....! :O).
    Merry Christmas! 🎁 🎄 Ho Ho Ho 🎅 🔔 Jingle Bells 🔔 🎶

    1. Do they celebrate Christmas in a dystopian society?

      God bless, Willie.

  2. ...the future is now here.

  3. Thank you for this light-hearted take on something that's bothered me for years! Like the old-time westerns my Tom's so fond of, I can't get past all the pretty starched frocks. Let's not even talk about deodorant -- or lack thereof.

Even advertising. They probably think no-one would be interested in buying product from a spokesperson with a few extra pounds or acne.

    1. That's what always confused me about those films; westerns too. The people are always well groomed and neat and clean. And you're right. It's the same with advertising. The people are always perfect and families always constitute a young couple (barely out of diapers) with two perfect children a boy and a girl.

      God bless, Mevely.

  4. That's not the world I want to live in! No wonder I hardly watch movies anymore ...

  5. Sometimes, I get that dystopian feeling when I watch too much news!
    Blessings, Victor!

    1. Yes, me too. It is so negative these days.

      God bless, Martha.

  6. Thanks for pointing out the huge plot hole.

  7. I'm not going to be here. By that time the Rapture will have come. :)

    1. We never know the time or the hour. God bless, Happyone.

  8. I think I will just move to West Virginia.... Or to Canada for free health care. BUT you are right about the teeth, no actor or actress is gonna show bad teeth..
I hope I ain't here when this world you describe shows up!
Sending the best of thoughts, some prayers and hope you are blessed..... I suggest you ask Father Ignacius for advice...

    1. You're so right, Jack. In such a sad futuristic world they never show any religious leader or pastor giving people hope and direction.

      God bless you and yours.

  9. Dearest Victor,
Don't care for movies in general and for sure not for such type.
When life would be like that, one would long to be taken to heaven...

    1. There are so many negative movies on TV these days. God bless, Mariette.

    2. Victor, everything is aimed at divide and rule and to further destroy morale. And all this for money of course...

God bless you.
